Artist Statement:

My most current work, Adorn and Dissolve, is my relation between nature and female sensuality. The always-confiding space of a forest is depicted along side the tempting displays of the female form. As the subject of sexuality was considered taboo for most of my life, expression and exploration can still feel forbidden. I am attempting to understand and explore my experiences within the sexualized culture that is my youth. I am confronted with the challenge of expressing what desire, safety, and seclusion feel like as a twenty-four-year-old female.

I have used the natural setting as a place to represent myself within these narratives. I am the observer, a silent witness. There is an investigation between the reflective sensuality that exists in both nature and the body. How we occupy space and the reaction that the environment displays. This idea calls for the exploration of deconstruction and juxtaposition between the environment and man. I am trying to find the line where description ends and the freedom of imagination and sensation set in.
